oregon coast summer trip

the first leg of our trip included a visit to crater lake.  yes, it is actually the caldera
of a volcano.  it is the deepest lake in the united states.  we spent the day exploring the volcano
and swimming in the lake.  then we found a camping spot for the night.
it would have been perfect, if the mosquito's weren't soooo bad!
ned and i couldn't get up and out of our campground fast enough!

we took a short mile hike down to the lake.

the boys were braver than the girls!  it was pretty cold but i was definitely wishing
i had my swimsuit, since it was sooo hot out!

the next day we headed over to the coast.  we stayed right on the border of
california and oregon.  we were between brookings, or. and crescent city, ca.
i love the oregon coast!  it is so beautiful even if the water is very cold!
i love that the coastline can go from foggy and cloudy to sunny and crystal
clear blue skies!

this is a view from out beach house.  totally beach front property! so cool!

one of me and emma's favorite things to do while hanging out on the beach, READING!

while william was sleeping back at the beach house and ned and the older kids
were on their morning hike,  issy and i went exploring.

issy and william tried their hand at body boarding, even in the cold water!

getting cozy warm after playing in the ocean!
