ned and i just returned from a cruise to the western caribbean. we enjoyed 7 days of leisure and fun. it was lovely to NOT wake up early every day or cook meals and clean and ned enjoyed not wearing a suit every day. what i enjoyed most though was not making my own bed. i loved walking into our room and finding our bed made and our room straightened up. it was heaven!!
we visited 4 ports: cozumel, costa maya, roatan and grand cayman. and while we were off having our own adventure, grandma gurr flew over from virginia to have her own adventure watching the grand kids. i am happy to report ALL survived! william even says to me from time to time, "grandma doesn't do it like that mom!" great big loves and thank you's to her for her love and sacrifice so we could have this vacation!! thanks grandma and mom!
we flew into ft. lauderdale, which was a bonus for us because we were able to spend the evening with audrey, steve and belle. we had dinner and spent the evening catching up before we shipped out the next day from miami. we are counting ourselves lucky since we traveled on a carnival ship and were able to return safely and without incident from our trip! HA!

we spent the first night at sea, FREEZING...it was kind of cold. miami had been unseasonably chilly and i was glad when by the afternoon on the first day it finally warmed up. however, i was cold most of the time on the ship because of the air conditioning...i know better now, to bring warmer clothes.

| mini-golfing while at sea |
our first day at sea we spent mini-golfing, exploring, sleeping, attending shows, eating, sunburning, reading, and basically figuring out where we were and where we were supposed to be. good thing ned has a good sense of direction because even after a week i still forgot if i was in the aft or bow of the ship!
our first port of call was cozumel. we didn't plan any group excursions at this stop but went on our own to a little place called chankanaab. it had beautiful gardens and animal shows, restaurants, a beach and snorkeling. i even spotted a lizard. i really enjoyed the lush vegetation, since it reminded me of panama.

| paths in the park covered by beautiful foliage reminded me of panama. |
 |
| a little pond in the park with some fish |
 |
| eating mexican food at a little open air restaurant |
 |
| watching a sea lion show |
 |
| we snorkled in the beautiful ocean |
 |
| i spotted this little guy on the rocks by the beach. |

we enjoyed the beautiful beach and park in cozumel as well as walking around the shops of the town practicing our "GRINGO" spanish.

Ashley, so fun to see your pictures and know that you such a great time. I should have warned you about the air conditioning. It does get cold. Cute to hear William say since I usually heard " my mom doesn't do it that way."
