i haven't blogged much about hunter this summer. it seems as he gets older it becomes more and more difficult to photograph and be apart of his activities. he spent the past week at high adventure camp in idaho. they went whitewater rafting and on a 3 day backpacking trip. basically 50 miles of wilderness fun!! he has been taking climbing all summer and loves to ride his bike, hike and learn how to golf. he has also realized he loves to play frisbee golf. he has recently passed up my 5feet 9 inches of height, just barely!! but pretty soon he will be towering over me!! it is strange to see him growing into a young man, yet also rewarding. he is now a teacher in the priesthood and is a great leader. i receive so many nice comments about what a nice young man he is. it makes a mom proud. hunter also went to his first youth conference this summer and to his first dance. i was anxious to see if he would actually dance, which he did, and he even rolled his eyes at me as if to say " hello mom, of course i danced." in fact, he enjoyed it enough that he went a to another youth dance a week later in pasco.
hunter is off on another camping trip this week; scout camp in oregon for a week. he will be gone until saturday and then home for 2 days and then we are off on our family vacation to the olympic pennisula with my sister audrey and her family. when we get back from that trip it will be time to start preparing for hunter's first year of high school. i am really excited for him, since he will be attending delta high school in richland, a STEM school. it stands for science, technology, engineering and math. it will be an adventure since he will need to hop on the city bus at about 6am to arrive in richland by 7am for early morning seminary. i think we may need to invest in a phone for this young man, so mom can rest easy knowing she can contact him while he is in route to and from school!!!! it will be a big year for our family juggling the life of a high school student, 2 home schooled girls and a busy preschooler!! let the adventure begin!!
hunter also continues to excel at the piano and learn the organ. we are considering some more professional(since i am his teacher and not that professional, i might add)instruction this year, so he can gain more experience preforming and improve his musical abilities. hunter is also very handy with computers and home repairs, a lot like his dad!! he enjoys programming, dabbling in graphic design and working to keep neds' multiple websites up-to-date!! he is a boy of many talents. did i mention that he is a responsible big brother and very helpful around the house?
anyway, i love hunter tonz and i love being his mom. so far he has been a great teen!! i am glad since i am new to parenting teenagers!!!! thanks hunter for being a great kid!!
