trail girl-horn rapids trail

this week we hit another trail here in the tri-cities.  horn rapids trail head out in the far reaches of west richland.  i actually thought i had gotten us lost on the way there, but no, we just hadn't driven far enough into the wilderness!!  eventually we found that elusive rd 225 and were able to find the trail head.  this was another  "no incline" trail so i took the kids along.  it was a gorgeous spring day but as we walked the sky grew darker. no rain, but the wind picked up a bit making it rather chilly.

while this trail was pretty secluded, you could see a few homes across the yakima river.  it was also tree-less and surrounded by typical shrub steppe plants.
my troopers who endure my adventures in nature, whether they want to or not!

issy enjoyed marking our trail along the way, just in case we got lost!

the only trees on the trail were these white poplar trees.

the yakima river was quite beautiful this day.  it was fast moving and pretty high.  i loved walking along the river and enjoying the beauty around us.  we even saw some birds and a rabbit.  while this was a nice trail, it was too far away for me to really make the drive on a regular basis.  if i lived in richland or west richland it would be more accessible.  but i am glad we spent the afternoon enjoying the beauty of god's creations.
