he lives!

i love the above photo of the resurrected christ with the nephite children. i can imagine how much he loves children since he understands how much we matter to our heavenly father. i am greatful to know that i am a child of god. i love to look as this photo and remember that my children are really my bro.'s and sis.'s and i have the awesome responsibility to teach them about our loving heavenly father and that they too are his children.

over the past week leading up to the day of Christ's resurrection, we spend each evening discussing the events of the final week of his life. i use the pictures from the GAK kit(i love the word "gak") and each one of us take turns teaching the rest of the family about what happened during the week. monday, we learn about Christ's triumphal entry into jerusalem and the 2nd cleansing of the temple. tuesday, we learn about the last supper and jesus washing the disciples feet. wednesday, we study his great suffering in gethsemane and the betrayal of his apostles. thursday, we read about christ being judged by the romans and the jews. friday, we study his suffering on the cross and saturday, we learn about his burial in the tomb. sunday, we read and talk about his resurrection and appearance to his friends in jerusalem as well as in america. it is a great week

over the past few years, i have moved away from the traditional easter bunny, candy and egg hunts on the sabbath and instead we save that for another time. usually as a family or with friends,we have a spring fling, where we do all the egg decorating, candy eating and easter egg hunting. i love to save the sabbath for what it truly is all about: christ! this past sunday we went to church and then spent the afternoon with friends, had a nice dinner and watched the movie, "Finding Faith in Christ." it was really fun and we still felt the spirit of the day.

What a GREAT way to remember the Savior! I love that you spend the week going through each day leading up to Christ's crucifixion & resurrection. This is one idea I will definitely borrow. Thanks for sharing! It does seem odd to mark the great gift of the atonement with eggs & candy. Somehow I think spending the day with a grateful heart is much more appropriate.
