Easter Weekend
I hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter weekend. Because we do not have the priviledge of being close to family, we spent our weekend with some great friends. We truly have been blessed to have found such wonderful friends and so quickly. It is sad to think that we will be leaving this place behind in the very near future(December). But, we are also excited to think about our life ahead. I have a good friend, whose husband is a orthodontist, and they own a small church that they are going to be demolishing this summer to turn into another office for his practice. While they have been working on the preparations for this, it sits empty, so she graciously lets me use it for get togethers with friends. It is very open, spacious and perfect for large groups and energetic kids. We have these get togethers every 2 or 3 months and so we decided to put together a Spring Potluck and Easter egg hunt for all our friends. We had a blast eating, hunting for eggs and decorating hard boiled eggs. There were about 60 kids there and so it was slighly a mad house, but tonz of fun!! I was really wanting to separate Easter from the Easter Bunny/eggs etc. , so this was done in part to avoid combining secular traditions with religious. Sunday we did not do our traditional Easter egg hunt but instead were able to focus on our Saviour and his sacrifice on our behalf. We spent it in worship and reading the scriptures of our Saviour, watching the movie Finding Faith in Christ and then in the evening we had dinner with some more friends. The kids didn't even complain about not getting all the "junk" they were used to getting....that always ends up lost, broken or in the garbage within the month. Hunter was the only one(since he has been living longer and remembers past Easter's more, I guess) that did comment on not doing the egg hunt, but he then said it is good we had fun yesterday. He often makes comments and can deduct the reason behind them without me even giving him an explanation of why I did something. He can be very insightful at times. All in all, it was a great time. I wish I had remembered my camera, but looking back I may have not taken many pictures anyways. When I am hosting a party, I tend to be too busy running around organizing and taking care of things to remember anyhow!! I hope that your Easter was filled with the spirit and that you were able to take a moment to remember all that Jesus Christ has done for us. Happy Easter!
