oahu

we took a little trip to oahu this month to celebrate bob and marjean's 50th
wedding anniversary.  they actually have the same anniversary as we do(august 17th),
but we had to work around schedules, so november it is!

windy day on the beach

pretty flowers

exploring the rocky coastline

Halona blowhole

Halona blowhole

hanuama bay. popular snorkeling spot on Oahu.

this is the actual pearl harbor monument.  we weren't allowed to go aboard, because
they were repairing the ramp.  so that was kind of disappointing, but still cool to
at least get to ride in the ferry around the monument.

there are some other monument also that represent the other ships that
were sunk as well.

these are some other fun things to see when you walk around the pearl harbor visitors museum.

exploring a submarines' tight quare

we spent one afternoon at the Oahu temple!  so beautiful!! i can't even
put into words...loved it!

beautiful mountain view!

they have lots of pretty water fountains on the temple grounds.

i think the one thing we did on Oahu, that completely surprised me,
was the Polynesian center.
i really didn't expect to enjoy it very much, but in fact i loved it!!
i especially loved seeing all the different
cultural dances and music.

maori dancers from new Zealand

we went to the luau they had there and really enjoyed that too.  the food wasn't
as awesome as i hoped, but i loved the entertainment.  ned and his parents enjoyed
the food though!

our last day we went on a long hike along the coastline.  part of the hike we spent
barefoot walking through mud and rain!  but eventually we found the rocks and sand and
the sun came out! super fun!

little private beach.  fun trip to Oahu!!
