nature lovin family vacation

i was so excited for this family vacation this year. we spent 4 days at mt. hood, oregon enjoying the mountains. since i love the mountains and i love hiking, this was exactly the vacation I was looking forward to. we went on a hike each day, our longest being 7 1/2 miles.  ned and i were very proud of issy and william.  they only grumbled a little, but mostly they did great!  we rented a cabin in the little town of rhodedendrum. when we arrived they didn't have the cabin ready, so we were a little disappointed, but after we got that taken care of, things worked out smoothly.  our first day we went on a hike to tamanawas falls. the hike was gorgeous, especially since it involved hiking through a forest.

as we walked.  she is starting high school, so we had lots
of fun things to talk about.

we went up to timberline lodge after our hike. skiing up here looks amazing. they even had
a lift open on the black diamond runs at about 9,000 ft. elevation.
 this is also where they filmed the shining...the crazy jack nicholson movie!

i tried to get a good picture of the mountain, but it was a little cloudy. i was able
to get some shots on our other hikes though.
