poetry

we've been learning poetry this month.  i love it!  i am not a writer naturally, but i do appreciate good literature and poetry.  i like to try my hand at poetry once in awhile.  on monday we learned about haiku's(one of my favorites, since they are about nature) and issy and i also did some name poems. we also have been doing free-verse poetry, limericks and shape poems.   here are a few we(the kids and i) "penned!"  hunter, emma and i have also been reading julius caesar this month.  we have been learning about iambic pentameter vs. prose, as well as learning to understand shakespeare along the way.  hunter and emma are kind of so/so about it.  i wish they would get into it more.  i love to read the parts and get all dramatic!  it brings back many high school english class  and thespian memories for me!!   hunter and emma just roll their teenage eyeballs at me, as if i am cuckoo!!  so what, maybe i am!!??

cupid limerick
i once had a crush on ned
but he didn't see my red head
so to cupid i went
and an arrow he sent
and now ned and i are wed!

How a Turtles Life Begins
My egg cracked around me as i broke free
from my half buried cage.
Sunlight streamed steadily upon my small shell
as i shuffled west toward wanted water.
Soon, I heard washing water
cresting carelessly against the beautiful beach.
The air smelled sweetly like salt.
I jumped joyfully as i entered the
wet water.
My journey had begun.

Mountain
rising up above
the flat landscape down below
gazed at from beneath

trees
sunlight sparkling bright
damp dew on wet yellow leaves
majestic tall strong

night time
blackness engulfs light
slow shadows creep in corners
quiet stillness, calm

Crazy Hair
Poofy
messy
crunchy
wild, wild, wild, hair.

Intelligently creative
Super smiley
Artsy
Bravely babbles
Excited eater
Loves roller coasters
Learns from books
Animated dancer

the moon
a full white bright globe
is this globe made of Swiss cheese?
white and bright at night
