mt. rainier part 1

GORGEOUS!!
this was our first view of mt. rainier as we drove into the park.
we enjoyed beautiful weather all week.
we camped along ohanepacosh river.  we got a kick out of the name and whenever we said
anything with  exclamation, we would say, "ohanepacosh!"

the river was extremely clear.  you could see to the bottom.  it was misleading though.
while it looked shallow it was in reality very deep.

the kids got right to work setting up camp.

after setting up camp we took off on a hike.  we followed a little stream/river up to some falls.  they were small enough to walk/slip along.

all along our hike there were these great pools of water.  they looked very inviting, but the water was actually super cold.  i didn't get any pictures, but ned slipped on our way back and took a ride down the slippery rocks quite a ways.  it was like a water slide.  he was screaming the entire way, not because he was scared but because it was so COLD!

another fun part of this hike was the HUGE huckleberries we found!
we totally scored!

issy and will were especially excited!!
they are my animated kiddos, in case you couldn't tell.

a fun beautiful start to our week.

Great pictures, Ashe. You and Ned are a good looking couple and the family seems to be having a great time together. You set the bar pretty high for family fun -- I'll have to prevent my kids from seeing your post so they won't be jealous.

Love your blog, miss you guys. Come visit sometime.
