a snowy fun weekend

we took a short hiatus from utah and ventured north to rexburg, idaho this past weekend. our good friends, the galbraiths, whom we met while at usu(96-99) moved back to sugar city, id. just west of rexburg. ned and i were newlyweds at the time and they had been married a little while and had 3 kids expecting their 4th. they were wonderful friends taking us under their wing and teaching us a lot about life and family. we got to know their kids very well. when i found out they were up in idaho, i got in touch with them via email and we planned a get together. it took a few months for our schedules to mesh, but finally they did and we took off.
the best part about going up to idaho was the snow. i never thought i would say that but since the winter here has not produced much snow, we were excited to actually get to play in some snow this past weekend.

william checking out the sledders. he did A LOT of screaming while we were sledding at the sand dunes by rexburg. he didn't like the snow much.

hunter getting reading to go down the dunes.

my kids and the galbraith kids sledding.

playing in the backyard. swining was the only thing
william enjoyed about being out in the snow.

kevin and kristin took ned and i 4-wheeling up in grand targhee national park.
it was beautiful but kind of chilly.

we had a wonderful visit with good friends. on our way back to utah we drove through rexburg to check out byu-idaho(formerly ricks while ned and i were there) and it looked very much the same. some new buildings and roads, not to mention a beautiful temple, but for the most part it looked the same. i forgot how tiny the campus is. it was fun to show the kids were we went to school, lived and where we met. good memories!

Old friends are the BEST! Looks like you were able to stay warm with all that COLD around you!

Maybe I already told you this, cause I kinda remember a conversation and I am feeling a little dejavouish- anyway Steve and i have some really good friends who live in Rexburg as well- Sean and Whitney Galbraith. Wonder if they are related. Looks like you guys had a ton of fun there. It's always fun though when Ashley is around!!!
