isabella celebrated her 6th b-day on the 19th of sept. as per tradition, i make the special birthday person's favorite breakfast to start off the day. issy chose her very favorite strawberry crepes and bacon. luckily for us, we love them too! because she was born in the morning...5:55 am to be exact she gets to open her presents early in the day. this is also a good thing because she will not stop asking when she can open her presents and so after awhile it gets a little annoying.

because she is a "little princess" she dressed in her princess dress for the special occasion!!

the only thing issy specifically requested for her birthday was a giant lollipop!

emma made issy a homemade purse out of an old pocket from ned's jeans.

a new friend of ours gave issy some izze grapefruit juice soda, it was yummy!!

a princess can always use some make-up!

issy requested to go to the aquarium for her b-day outing. it was a fun afternoon.

that evening we invited our new friends from our neighborhood over to help us celebrate and sing to issy for her birthday. because issy doesn't like cake, i made her some chocolate chip cookies for her celebration. it was quite a show though when it came to blowing out the candles. as you can see, she threw a huge fit, even crawling under the table, refusing to blow out the candles because she was scared of fire. it was quite embarrassing, funny and exasperating all at the same time! eventually, with help from mom and dad she blew them out!
happy birthday issy!!

Ash,
What a cute little purse idea. How are things going? I'm so sorry that we missed you before you moved. We had every intention of seeing you at the Coles--life interrupted. I do hope you are doing well and that Ned has found a job and all of that good stuff. We miss you though! --jul
Issy is so cute, how often can I say it? Happy birthday to her!!! I didn't realize how close in age she & Michael Anne are (Dec.). I bet they would LOVE each other!
I too think that purse out of a jean pocket is a cool idea, clever :)
We always let our kids open presents first thing in the morning it makes the rest of the day much more fun!
Hey I was blog surfing not long ago and came across some reading activities I think you had done maybe with a preschool group or your kids. But now I can't find them I so want to try some. Can you help me?
Happy Birthday Issy! What a cutie. :)
my son cried pitifully through his first birthday song- i am sure it was because it was only me and my husband singing and that can scare a grown adult... he would cry every time anyone sang the happy birthday song after that for at least a year...
