the kids are tucked in bed and quiet. i am sitting at my computer updating my blog and out walks my emma. i almost reprimand her for interrupting my coveted ALONE time, when she breaks out in song. singing "mother dear" in a quiet sweet voice and tears in her eyes, i just could not contain myself. as she begins the second verse, she stops and we embrace as the tears fall. i am overwhelmed with the feelings of love for my sweet red-head and my mind is flooded with all the memories of angrier moments. i feel humbled as i think about how our Savior asks us, "to become as a little child," and at this very moment my child is an example to me of forgiveness and unconditional love. we are quiet for a few minutes as we contemplate our thoughts. then she says in a quiet voice, "can we cuddle tonight?" to which i reply, "of course."

red-heads teach the best lessons
