ned and i spent this past weekend in spokane, wa. while it was mostly a weekend spent to get him settled into his new place, we still had a great time without any kids
(except william, of course) while still taking a little r & r for ourselves.
besides taking a few minutes out for a smooch, here are a few things we accomplished this weekend.

we got ned all tucked in and cozy in his new studio apt. in brownes addition downtown spokane.
it may be tiny, but it has a great balcony with views of the river. his apartment is about the size of our front room. it has a little kitchen, bathroom and closet. that's it! it is just the right size for a young attorney living the bachelor life. he is only about 1 mi. from work too, so he can walk or grab the bus that stops just right outside his door.

after furnishing ned's apartment with a futon, desk/chair, 3 lamps and a make-shift nightstand, we headed off to dinner to celebrate his 35th birthday.
yummy dinner and a marionberry pie to go, we headed over to super walmart to pick up a few items for ned's apartment. just a side note...if you know anything about me and losing things, you will proud to know that i FINALLY made copies of my car keys and have 3 sets of each so hopefully no more getting locked out of my car or being unable to start my car! YEah!(oh, i added this little tidbit because i made the key copies at walmart..so convenient)
we topped off the evening by eating pie for dessert and watching the dvd music and lyrics.

saturday we started the day off with breakfast and then we headed over to the cannery to put some food storage items together. we worked with another group of people from the lincoln heights area here in spokane. william wasn't too cooperative. ned and i had to switch off holding him because he seemed a little scared by all the people and noises. don't you love his little cap we wore while working in the cannery? we were loaded up with 12 cans of red wheat, 12 cans of oats and 12 cans of rice. we also bought some oxygen absorbers and lids so i could can some items at home. it was a fun and rewarding morning!

after canning, we headed to the spokane valley mall and this is pretty much where we hung out for the rest of the day. ned was in need of some new attorney-looking attire, so we spent most of our time trying on numerous amounts of shirts, ties and pants. we also hit the eddie bauer outlet and were successful there as well. i was even able to find a few items on the 70% off rack...what a deal! a quick stop at krispy kreme for ned and wendy's for me and then we went back to ned's apt. to get will put to bed. but will didn't seem to want to go to sleep. he kept crying and acting like he was in pain. knowing he hadn't had a bowel movement in a super duper long time, i figured he was starting to get uncomfortable. so i ran over to rosauers to purchase some medicine for our little man. a few drops of stool softener and a huge blow-out a few minutes later and he was a happy camper.
then will had another huge blowout(this one resulting in a much needed bath and some handwashing of clothing and blankets), we had lunch and will and i packed up to leave. it was sad to leave ned after such a wonderful getaway, but we will see him soon...in fact, this weekend. he will be commuting back and forth on the weekends for awhile. i am planning to take the kids up to see ned during spring break in a few weeks.
until then, we look forward to his phone call to let us know how his first day at LEE and HAYES IP FIRM went!!
good luck ned and we miss you!!

What a blast that weekend sounded like for you two. Glad you guys aren't moving too far far away...
I am so jealous! It sounds like you had a great time.
Hmmmm. Weekend getaway with hubby. Drool. (In my best Homer Simpson impersonation)
When the twins are older, I'm forcing Todd to take me away somewhere for over a week. Like to Hawaii. Or Tahitti. You know, nothing too extravagant. Wink.
sounds awesome kristi...i look forward to the day when we can leave will at home as well. he was actually pretty good, it is just another thing to think about though, yah know??? i hope that trip happens sooner than later. ned and i still hope to take our mexico trip that was rudely interrupted by him starting school 3 years ago. so instead of a 10 year mexico vacation it will be a 15 year mexico vacation or earlier, i hope!!! kendra pickard just got her hands on ANOTHER timeshare and this one is in Mexico, so I am soo hitting her up for that one. ttyl
