heart day

valentines day started early around here. ned heads out for school around 6am and i happened to be up with him this morning and after a polite kiss and "happy valentine's day" he gave me a new mp3 player with a cute heart shaped card he made. it had homemade illustrations and a cute saying, "you are the music of my life!" super sweet! he got his "present" later...

we also celebrate heart day as a family by having a traditional dinner where everyone gets to pick their favorite dish and i make it for them. then we swap valentines, play games and put on music and dance. the kids really look forward to it! this year, since ned has been especially busy preparing for the bar, we decided to have a breakfast. however, that didn't happen with all his early mornings, so i persuaded him to come home for 1 hr. on sat. night and we had "breakfast" dinner.

our "breakfast" dinner consisted of egg/bacon casserole(hunter's choice), pecan sticky buns(ned's choice), german pancakes(emma's choice), bacon(issy's choice), fruit and lemon poppyseed muffins(ashley's choice) and of course ghirardelli chocolate squares for dessert...our favorite! it was super yummy and filling. hope you all had a great heart day too!

What a great tradition! I was pretty lame for Valentine's day this year, but I did use my Old Navy coupons and get $25 worth of free stuff. Maybe next year I'll start your family tradition--that's so great!!

That little Will sure is cute--looks like you're really enjoying him!

How fun!!! I love that everyone got their favorite dish, you are amazing!

We had a fun time with heart-shaped pancakes & raspberry jam. I'll put up a post one of these days...seems I'm lazy at that lately.

Although you might like a recipe for chicken soup I put up on my other blog this morning, www.deliciouslyhomemade.blogspot.com

Hope you have a great day!
