Blackberries and Blackberries and Blackberries, Oh my!!

It is Blackberry season here in the Northwest and it is full force in our home as well. Ned got together with some friends of ours and took the kids blackberry picking last weekend. I did not go, since Will was only 1 week old and my mom just arrived from Virginia. However, they had a great time picking TONZ of blackberries. Chef Ned decided to make some pies and crisp with some of the blackberries and he and Jess(our friend) spent Sunday afternoon making blackberry jam, while us ladies lounged on the couch. I will post the jam making pictures in another blog. It was relaxing watching Ned make his pies and crisp...since all I did was make the crisp topping! But the best part was sampling his hardwork when it was completed! Notice the size and color of the blackberries...they were BEAUTIFUL!!

While this endeavor was primarily Chef Ned's, I did help by making the topping
for the blackberry crisp!! YUMMO...I love the topping!!

These pictures are of Chef Ned making the crusts
for the blackberry pies.

Don't these blackberries look DELICIOUS??

The Finished Product: 2 Blackberry Pies and 1 Blackberry Crisp!!
Doesn't Chef Ned look so proud??

What was the final verdict: Everyone thought they tasted
great...but the Crisp was the BEST!!

Yummmm...the blackberries look scrumptious! I am very impressed with Ned's baking skills - how about shipping some of those pies out our way?! :)

I'm impressed with Chef Ned's talent. A man who's not afraid to step into the kitchen...that's what I'm talkin about. ;)
P.S. Jeremy canned some peaches for me a couple of weeks ago. :)
