Camping at Heyburn Park

I discovered several years ago how much I enjoy camping. I love all the smells of the forest, the campfire and the outdoors. Even though getting all the gear together for a family is a huge chore, I am always glad I do it, because I just love the feeling of being outdoors. It is a place I feel peaceful and relaxed and am able to escape from the world. So, I want my kids to learn to love the outdoors too, so we always take some camping trips during the summers. Being pregnant this summer and having Ned gone, makes it a little more difficult to do all the activities outdoors that I want to have the energy to do, but a few weeks ago, I took the kids camping to one of our favorite spots. It is at the south end of Coeur D' Alaine lake a state park called Heyburn. It is about a 60 minute drive north of Moscow. We invited two family friends to join us and we all had a blast. Even though the water was cold, they still had fun swimming and playing. They even have a nice bike trail and hiking trails. The kids mostly enjoyed fishing and playing in the water though. Below are some pictures of the kids and their friends.

Scenic view of the lake from our campsite.

Hunter and Max preparing to fish.

Here they are getting ready to jump into the water. Hugh, Wick, Emma, Annika, Emma, Jenna, Hunter and Nathan

The two other moms I went with. Kathy and Holly and Ivy(the baby Holly's holding) and Tyler standing behind them.

Issy, Tyler, Wick and Hunter building the campfire and roasting marshmallows. I think the boys' favorite thing to do when camping is playing with the fire.

Looks like fun! Did any of the other hubbies go, or was it just the moms and kids? I can't wait for the weather to cool down here so we can attempt a camping trip this fall. Not sure if it'll happen because the twins will still be so young at that point, but I can dream!

Sure miss you guys! Say "hi" to everyone for me!

Hey kristi, long time no chat. Guess what? It was just us ladies. It was a blast though. I was super tired after camping and had to spend the entire next day napping and laying around. Luckily, my kids were sympathetic and let me be a lazy mom. How is your preganay going? I bet you guys are getting super anxious, just like me. Let the countdown begin.

Wow! I'm impressed! You ladies always seem up for an adventure! I'm not sure I could attempt camping by myself, but I'm horribly out of practice, so maybe that's why I'm reluctant.
I am really excited to get these girls out, but know they should probably stay in for a couple more weeks at least unless we want them to spend some time in the NICU. The last month is hard! I'm so tired and ungainly that I don't get anything done, and I have all those nesting instincts that I can't do anything about. Kinda stinks! But it's worth it. Can't wait to snuggle with my girlies!
Keep those pictures coming! It makes me feel like I'm not too far away from everyone. I sure miss Moscow, and those pics of Elk Resevoir were beautiful! So green! Everything out here is dry and brown. :)
